Jules Wittock

Jules Wittock paints labyrinths whose solution spells out a word. All that remains is to find the entrance, the path and the hidden word.

A childhood calling

Born in 1993, Jules Wittock is a Belgian artist who lives and works in Brussels. Raised in a family of artists, he was encouraged to create from childhood and began drawing labyrinths very early, by instinct. He sees them as a form of meditation, a way to escape and to stay in the present moment.

A word hidden in every painting

Each work is a labyrinth with an entrance and an exit. The path to the solution forms a word, sometimes several, which the artist keeps secret: only the title of the work offers a clue. Some words can be read quickly, others take more patience.

From canvas to space

He paints in acrylic, sometimes in oil, on linen canvas, and more recently works in bronze and aluminium. His research also extends to installation and to kinetic works driven by motors. In 2022 he took up a residency at Nomade Lodge in the Amazon. In 2024 he was commissioned to paint a ceiling at the Palais de Justice in Brussels.

His work has been shown at the Tamayo Museum and the Museo de Arte Moderno in Mexico City, as well as the Museo Kaluz. He has held solo exhibitions at Galerie des Dominicains in Brussels in 2022, at Galerie Isabelle Laverny in Paris in 2023 (En chemin) and at Galerie Artima in Paris in 2026 (Labyrinthes). He has also taken part in Art Miami, BRAFA, Lille Art Up! and the Affordable Art Fairs in London, New York and Hong Kong.
