Leslie Berthet Laval
View the collectionTrained in art restoration, Leslie Berthet Laval paints using syringes, gold leaf, and resin. Light is her true subject.

An early calling
Born in Lyon in 1975 and based in Isère, she created her first painting at the age of three and fulfilled her first commission before the age of thirteen. In 1996, she earned a degree in interior design.
The Louvre as an apprenticeship
She worked in art restoration for prominent historical monuments, including the Louvre in Paris and the Museum of Fine Arts in Lyon, an experience with antique materials that continues to inform her painting.

A mixed technique
Pursued as a self-taught artist in parallel with her professional career, her artistic journey led her to the Shanghai World Expo in 2010. Drawing from expressionist inspiration, her work focuses on light, movement, and material: acrylic, spray paint, gold and silver leaf, resin, and an original application using syringes that she has even turned into a performance, emptying the syringes directly onto the canvas.
