Willem Wouters
View the collectionA Belgian architect turned sculptor, Willem Wouters works with resin alone, unmixed, creating pieces in which light becomes matter.

Background
Born in 1984, Willem Wouters trained in architecture at KU Leuven, at the Ghent campus, and subsequently at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya in Barcelona. He then spent eight years working in Paris at international firms, before returning to Belgium in 2015 to lead large-scale projects.
A unique material
He works exclusively with resin, without combining it with other substances. Years of experimentation with the technical properties of the material have allowed him to develop his own manufacturing process: each piece is handcrafted and remains unique.

The architect's eye
His approach to the object is an extension of his architectural practice. Forms, textures, and colors are conceived as a built volume; the light that passes through and reflects within the resin reveals images that change according to the angle and the time of day.
